A Celebration of Black Carriage Drivers, Coachmen and Oxen Drivers

On Saturday, February 26^th, there will be a parade in Colonial Williamsburg (rain date is Saturday, March 5^th). The parade will begin at 12:30PM and includes guest speakers.  The parade is to roll out a carriage that has specifically been designed to honor, illuminate, and appreciate the Black carriage drivers, coachmen, and oxen drivers who have been with the foundation of Colonial Williamsburg since it’s opening. This is an offering of appreciation to the African-American community. There will be descendants from the families of the African-American coachman in attendance.  A heated tent will be provided on the Courthouse green with a small reception to follow. Flyers including this information will be sent in February to the churches, organizations, and local community.
