Old Fashion Frame Raising - African Baptist Meeting House

The big day has arrived: it is time to raise the timber frame for the African Baptist Meeting House and honor the original site of the Historic First Baptist Church, one of the nation’s oldest African American churches. The foundation is complete, and all materials will be cut and on site by Friday, July 17^th. This frame raising is an exciting milestone for the community and for supporters across the country. Community members and all Virginians are invited to join the old-fashioned frame raising and celebration on Saturday, July 18^th at 9:00 AM. This important step in the church’s restoration offers confidence that the building will stand tall by October 9, 2026, the church’s 250^th anniversary.
