Our Mission
The Historic First Baptist Church exists to honor and glorify God by obeying Jesus’ command to make disciples of all people groups. We accomplish this through our mission and core values. As a Christian church, we believe unity, inclusiveness, and diversity are essential to the strength and growth of our congregation.
Who We Are
We are a multi-generational church community made up of men, women, children, students, teachers, artists, workers, families, and servants from many walks of life. We gather in faith, grow in fellowship, and seek to serve with love, purpose, and excellence.
What to Expect
Whether you are visiting for the first time, returning to church, or looking for a church home, we want you to feel welcomed, encouraged, and connected. Our desire is to create a place where people can worship freely, grow in Christ, and walk together in faith.
What We Believe
The Purpose of God
We affirm our belief in the one eternal God—Creator and Lord of the world, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who governs all things according to the purpose of His will. He calls a people to Himself and sends them into the world as His servants and witnesses for the extension of His kingdom, the building up of Christ’s body, and the glory of His name.
The Authority and Power of the Bible
We affirm the divine inspiration, truthfulness, and authority of both the Old and New Testament Scriptures in their entirety as the written Word of God and the infallible rule of faith and practice. We also affirm the power of God’s Word to accomplish His purpose of salvation and to continue speaking truth to His people today.
The Uniqueness and Universality of Christ
We affirm that there is one Savior and one gospel. Jesus Christ, the only God-man, gave Himself as the ransom for sinners and is the only mediator between God and humanity. Salvation is found in Him alone, and all people are invited to respond to Him in repentance, faith, and wholehearted commitment.

Our Strategic Plan helps define the long-term goals of First Baptist and guides how ministries plan activities before committing time, talent, and treasure. We believe ministry should be done with excellence, wisdom, and purpose so that every effort supports the mission of the church.

Need Space for a Meeting?
Submit a Space Request
First Baptist serves as a welcoming and safe gathering space for worship services, weddings, homegoing services, and community meetings. To request use of church facilities, please complete the meeting space request form. Please allow three days for a response.
