Keynote Speaker - Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr.
Dr. LaFayette has devoted his life to carrying out the order Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave to him in in 1968. Institutionalize nonviolence. He is a longtime civil rights activist and organizer, minister, educator and lecturer. He was appointed as the national program administrator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and national coordinator of the Poor People's Campaign by Dr. King. Dr. LaFayette was given the 2012 National Civil Rights Museum's National Freedom Award, the 2016 "I Am A Man" award in Memphis, Tennessee, and the 2016 Mahatma Gandhi international Award for Reconciliation and Peace, presented in Durban, South Africa, by Ela Gandhi, granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi.
