The Let Freedom Ring (LFR) Foundation Scholarship will advance the awardees' knowledge regarding African American history through research, essays, and presentations. Our goal is to promote and encourage post-secondary educational pursuits that provide life-long opportunities for students and a better-educated and informed community.

  • Eligibility Criteria
    • Must be a high school senior, graduating during the 2021-2022 academic school year, attending a Williamsburg-James City County or York County school
    • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
    • Must be pursuing a post-secondary degree at a U.S. institution of higher learning - this includes community college, trade school, and a four-year institution
  • Completed applications must fulfill the following requirements:
    • Preliminary application Download Application Here - completed application must be included with your package of materials 
    • Minimum of 1000 word typed response to essay prompts listed below
    • Recorded 5-10 minute oral presentation
    • Certification of attendance in workshops
    • Transcript [unofficial or official]
    • Proof of enrollment to institution
    • Resume
